The Policing Authority today published the Report of the review undertaken by Crowe Horwath on its behalf regarding matters relating to Mandatory Intoxicant Testing and the Incorrect Issuing of Summonses by the Garda Síochána Instead of Fixed Charged Notices.
Following the retirement of the Garda Commissioner yesterday, the Policing Authority has immediately commenced consideration and research on the process to identify and appoint the next Commissioner of the Garda Síochána.
The Policing Authority was informed this afternoon of the Garda Commissioner's decision to retire.

At its scheduled July meeting yesterday (27 July 2017), the Policing Authority welcomed the publication of the Garda Síochána Public Attitude Survey on a quarterly basis for the first time.
The Authority has noted the significant findings and recommendations published this afternoon by the Committee of Public Accounts in relation to Financial Procedures at the Garda College in Templemore.
