The Policing Authority has made a number of appointments to the ranks of Assistant Commissioner, Chief Superintendent and Superintendent  in the Garda Síochána in the period August - October 2017.

The appointments to the Garda ranks are made following selection competitions that were conducted in accordance with the statutory framework and the Authority’s Statement of Practice for undertaking each competition. Senior civilian staff in the Garda Síochána are appointed by the Authority following appropriate civil service recruitment processes.
