Quarterly announcement of Policing Authority appointments to positions in the Garda Síochána: May 2019 - July 2019
The Policing Authority announced a selection competition for the purpose of making appointments to the rank of Superintendent in the Garda Síochána on its website on 9 May 2019. The Authority established a panel of candidates based on the Order of Merit determined by the Selection Board for this competition at its meeting of 24 July 2019.
On Thursday 25 July, the Policing Authority will hold a public conversation on Community Safety oversight, which will be live-streamed on the Authority’s website.
The Policing Authority has announced the award of two bursaries under its Research Bursary Scheme. This scheme is intended to promote continuous improvement in policing through creating relevant and robust research capacity in the policing field.
The Policing Authority has today published a review of Public Order Policing in Ireland, which was carried out on its behalf by the Garda Inspectorate.
The Policing Authority has today published its Annual Report for 2018. The third year of its existence, 2018 saw the Authority develop and deepen its assessment of the Garda Síochána, and its evidencing of this assessment. It added rigour and evidence to the hallmarks of its oversight, namely transparency and persistence.
