Policing Authority Statement on the death of former Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll.
It was with great sadness that the Policing Authority learned of the death of former Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll.
John served the State with distinction and his dedication to the Garda Síochána characterises policing at its best. He played a significant role in the development of the oversight relationship with the Authority when it was established in 2016. A consummate professional, John’s dedication to keeping people safe was always evident. We will particularly remember his zealous commitment and focus on victims, vulnerability and safety in communities. His engagement with the Authority on these issues was always passionate and sincere.
The Authority offers its condolences to John’s wife and family and to the Garda Síochána organisation that has lost a valued colleague and friend.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
