The Policing Authority is required to prepare a Statement of Strategy every three years. The Statement of Strategy sets out the expected outcomes from the work of the Policing Authority over the period from 1st July 2016 to 31st December 2018 and the key actions which the Authority intends to take to support the achievement of those outcomes.
In developing its Statement of Strategy, the Policing Authority undertook a planning process which considered a range of factors relating to its functions, taking into account the environment in which it operates, its statutory remit and its stakeholders, in particular the citizen. A public consultation was undertaken to provide an opportunity to individual citizens and interested organisations to contribute their views on the Authority’s Strategy for the period.
The Authority’s first Statement of Strategy for the period 2016-2018 was submitted to the Minister for Justice and Equality in accordance with the Authority’s statutory obligation to prepare a strategy statement within the first six months of its establishment and published in July 2016.
